Description

This plant has oblong to linear, 3-lobed leaves plus spikes of spurred flowers have five petals which may be dark blue or violet-red, often slightly flecked.

Habitat

Usually found as a garden escape or birdseed alien, sometimes on rubbish dumps or disturbed ground close to habitation.

Rarely recorded in the wild in Britain.

VC55 Status

Rare, or rarely recorded in Leicestershire and Rutland. It was not recorded in the 1979 Flora survey of Leicestershire, and is not listed in the current Checklist (Jeeves, 2011).
