Adarrus ocellaris
Length 3 to 4 mm. A distinctive species in which the cells of the clavus have several cross-veins. Note also the pale cross on the vertex and the dark-edged cells at the apex of the forewing. The face is often largely blackish.
This species can be identified from good quality photographs with care but there are similar species that it could be confused with.
Grassland.
Adult: May to October.
Widespread and quite frequent in Britain.
Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
