Alebra albostriella
Length 3.5 to 4.5 mm. The four UK species of this genus are distinguished by the presence of a forewing appendix, a membranous area at the tip of the wing which is not crossed by any veins. Dimorphic - males have red and white longitudinal stripes, females are greenish-yellow. Dark spots can usually be seen at the base of the tibial spines in this species.
Detailed examination of the specimen is needed to identify this species. A photograph alone is not normally sufficient because key features are not obvious and there are one or more similar species.
On Pedunculate Oak (Quercus robur). Adults may also be found on other deciduous trees.
Adult: June to October
