Birch Rust - Melampsoridium betulinum

Description

The rust fungus Melampsoridium betulinum affects the leaves of Birch species (and sometimes Alder) as its primary host, producing uredinia and teia on leaves, usually the under-surface.   The alternate aecial host is Larch.   It is not considered to be gall-causing on either host.
