Newtown Linford lies to the north-west of Leicester and is part of the Charnwood Forest area. The village is famous for Bradgate Park, a large country park which was home to Lady Jane Grey, Queen for nine days. Much of the village is a designated conservation area. The River Lin runs through the village and on through Bradgate Park where it feeds Cropston Reservoir.
The parish is rich in wildlife, including Bradgate Park, Lea Meadows and Sheet Hedges Wood - all are Sites of Special Scientific Interest.

Bradgate Park supports the only established Adder population in Leicestershire, as well as many other rare species.This one was photographed in the Park in 2018.
Newtown Linford has joined Leicestershire's road verge biodiversity project and has taken over the management of a verge on Markfield Lane to help improve its value for wildlife. Read more on the verge Wild Place page.
