Hare's Ear - Otidea onotica
A large elongated yellowish-buff or apricot ear with a split down the shorter side and edges overlapping. The inner surface may have pinkish spots.
Other Otidea recorded in VC55 are more buff or brownish in colour, but Hare's-ear can be a buff colour. For certain identification, spores should be examined.
Photograph in habitat, and note substrate and associated tree species. This is a difficut genus. For certainty, spores should be examined or the specimen verified by an expert before submission to NatureSpot.
