Carl’s talk will cover the sudden arrival of the Goshawk in Charnwood and the first documented record of this species breeding in the county. Leicestershire is one of the least wooded counties in England, which has a significant bearing on the behaviour of these secretive forest dwellers. Unique behaviour was recorded during the 2026 breeding season and this will be discussed in full. As well as the Goshawks, there are a number of other scarce breeders using the same habitat that will be included in the talk.
Fascinated by birds from a very young age, Carl first joined LROS as a schoolboy. He is currently County Bird Recorder.
