Eastern Bordered Straw - Heliothis nubigera
Wingspan about 40 mm. Quite a variable species markings varying from a straw brown to more rufous shades.
This is quite a rare moth in our area. Please provide a good clos-up photograph to support your record.
Usually encountered as a migrant in Britain
May to September.
The larvae feed on a variety of herbaceous plants.
An uncommon migrant to Britain.
Rare in Leicestershire and Rutland. The Barrowden record of 30th May 2026 is the first for VC55.
