Swedish Whitebeam - Sorbus intermedia

Medium sized tree to 15 metres, the leaves elliptical, pinnately lobed to halfway dark green above, pale yellowy green beneath. Flowers dull white in dense flattish heads. Berry scarlet when ripe.

Usually planted in Britain on roadside verges etc.

May and June.

Deciduous - Most trees are probably mature examples of unrecorded planting.

Widespread but scattered in Britain, probably mostly from planting.

Uncommon in Leicestershire and Rutland where most specimens are probably the result of unrecorded planting. In the 1979 Flora survey of Leicestershire it was found in 6 of the 617 tetrads.
