The verge is on the western side when leaving Littlethorpe, opposite Holt Road.

This verge lies along the western side of Cosby Road just south of Littlethorpe. It is approximately 3 metres wide and backed by a mature hedge which includes Elm and Elder.
The verge being managed to improve biodiversity as part of the County Council/Parish Council Verges Biodiversity Project. The aim of the project is to demonstrate that by managing the verge as a wildflower meadow it can support a much greater variety of wildlife species.
The verge has been surveyed by NatureSpot but different species come and go throughout the year we will get a much better understanding of the nature value of this site if local residents can add records of what they have seen. No mowing takes place between April and August to allow the grasses and wildflowers to grow and bloom, providing food and cover to a wide variety of insects and other creatures. A narrow 'visibility' strip is however regularly mown along the road edge.
The 2024 NatureSpot survey revealed 53 plant species along the verge plus a wide range of insects and other invertebrates.

The verge grassland is mostly tall wildflowers and grasses, including False Oat-grass and Lesser Burdock, but with good numbers of White Campion and Black Horehound. A few areas appear to be less nutrient-rich and these support a greater diversity including Timothy, Goat's-beard and Red Clover.
The hedge in mainly Elm with some Ash, Elder and Hawthorn.
